Hi, I'm Soukchay,

My name is pronounced Souk-chai, like the tea, and in my native culture, Laotian, it means HAPPY HEART. I am a mama, a wife, a Portrait photographer by trade, and a storyteller at heart. My purpose is to capture the beauty in the small moments of everyday life because it is in these moments that carry the most significance.

Early on, I started asking my mother for disposable cameras for all my school events. I wanted to capture these fleeting moments. In high school, my oldest sister bought a bright blue digital camera that we all took turns using, as is sister life. It was these camera, these memories, that became as significant as the photographs themselves. Then, my high school boyfriend gifted me a pink Sony digital flip camera and later my first DSLR camera. Little did I know that these would become the memories, the photographs, that I got to share with the same man, my now husband and father of our son.

It is the moments and stories like mine that have inspired me to empower and encourage others to tell their own stories, through photography. I believe in building a relationship with a family who invites me to document their precious moments. From graduations, weddings, pregnancies, newborn sessions, and infant milestones, to multigenerational family portraits, I will capture these moments to help you tell your family's beautiful, unique story.
